The Power of a Dream burning with Passion and Unwavering Faith

I just needed to share a clip from "August Rush" a most inspiring movie.

Do you have a dream that is bigger than yourself burning within you? When pressures and negative people tempt us from straying from our passion it's good to remind ourselves about ’staying the course’.

Fashion and Style ... that was

The YouTube user 'Rosebudgarden' who compiled these videos, had this to say:

"Glorious, stunning fashion shots mostly from the 40s & 50s. The 40s colour photographs are a revelation - I could spend the rest of my days just looking at them. It's an unreality that gives me the impression that complete female emancipation is through total femininity, and that's just what these images are designed to do - to remind women of the primal urge and liberating feeling of being beautiful. A cynical ploy to keep women in chains? If so, then it's an exquisite slavery from which women are disinclined to be free."

The elegant 1950's. Below is a picture of my mother and I towards the end of the 50's

Would you wish for the elegant era to grace women's bodies again, or do you have reservations re what it all represented? Does the idea of feminine gracefulness conjure up notions of 'The Stepford Wives' to you? As it so happened, my own mother was a very successful and highly qualified pharmacist.

Would be interested to know your thoughts.

Smootch and have a fun time with your man ... it's good for the kids!

Good news for parents who are cash-strapped in this economy: Date night is not mandatory for a good relationship.

"I've never been able to do date night. By the time it gets to be evening, the last thing I want to do is go out in the cold or rain, pay another baby sitter," ... I heard someone say who approached me on the subject.

Connecting doesn't have to be huge, expensive or time-consuming. Make your marriage sweet and memorable in the littlest moments every day.

Explore Your Personal Feel-Good Nurture Space

What does it mean to You to nurture yourself?

Face it, we’re all different. Nurturing and comfort mean different things to different people.

I personally love to relax either in a nicely scented bath, a sauna, or curl up on the sofa with a non work related book, enjoy the treat to peacefully sleep, or just doze in a warm sunlit garden cove with my eyes closed and listen to the delightful bird twitter. My list goes on. Oh yea, music, particularly Baroque ... and art, painting ....

However I know ladies who feel nurtured by a good run, an invigorating swim, or a good threshing about on the tennis court.

Others like cooking, baking or gardening.

What is it that causes you to flip the inner switch so that you can relax, inhale and feel utterly nurtured?

For those of you who have experienced heartbreak and loss ... can you say, "Thank you!" ?

I am feeling inspired to share with you a song by Sinéad O'Connor. If you have lived long enough on this planet earth you will have had opportunities to experience devastating heartbreaks, deep reaching loss; you may have had a relationship or a marriage breakup with your fondest dreams scattered like ashes.....

There is a time for grieving and a time to look back and find the strength to say "thank you!" about the situation or to the person that caused you joy and pain ... "Thank you for the good" and "thank you for breaking my heart" because you now have become stronger.

"Life breaks all of us, but some of us are strong in the broken places." — Ernest Hemingway ... “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

Hugging for Healing

(I wrote this post in another one of my blogs, but it's worth repeating!)

We need 4 hugs a day for survival.
We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance.
We need 12 hugs a day for growth

I am a very huggy, touchy, sensual tactile person and love to put my hands and arms around anyone and anything that moves or doesn’t move. My hands have a natural tendency to explore textures, hold things, caress, tenderly stroke, massage, play with things … oh yes, I guess, not surprisingly, I have a healing anointing in and through my hands.

The Wisdom of Water Lilies

Yesterday was a glorious sunny day in London (UK) after some rather dreary wet grey and cold weeks. I had a privilege to take a walk in Hampstead Heath with a very special friend of mine, Simone. This is her contribution to this blog.

Warmly,
Geli xx

"on a walk with a very dear friend on the gorgeous Hampstead Heath in London, on an Indian Summer afternoon in October, we chanced upon an ornamental lake. The lake had waterlilies growing on it and just one strong one had survived to autumn. It was tightly closed when we first saw it, and took this photograph.

The sun came out and warmed both us and the lake, and slowly but surely the waterlily began to open a little. It was magical watching this hesitant unfolding. However the sun was not consistent and although beautifully warm when it did come out, whenever the clouds covered the sun, it became quite cool.

As I gazed at this one surviving, strong waterlily, it occurred to me that there is a wisdom in flowers. The strongest ones do not open to their full glory with just a few moments of sun and warmth, allowing a passing stranger to glimpse their inner treasures. These wise flowers will only open fully  when the warmth is consistent and long.

I am a survivor of an abusive relationship, and have for too long settled for less than I deserve in my romantic life.
I have felt a strong affinity for this gorgeous flower, and her wisdom in saving herself only for those times when she is bathed in warmth for consistent periods.

I wanted to share this with others.........if there is not consistent warmth, we need to remain tightly closed and open gradually, guardedly and safely, so that we too can remain the survivor. If this lily had been forced to open before she is fully ready, her petals will be torn and her beauty marred........and her life shortened far before its time.

Blessings

Simone"
